American soccer player Matthew Charles Turner plays professionally. Turner, born in Park Ridge, New Jersey, went to Saint Joseph Regional High School. Turner started playing soccer when he was 14 years old, at first doing so to keep himself in shape for his main sports, baseball, and basketball. In 2019 season
After a difficult start to the 2019 season that saw him drop to the third string behind Cropper and Knighton, Turner would eventually reappear as the team's starter, starting 20 games and recording five clean sheets. In 2020 season

Turner excelled in 2020, he was selected as a finalist for the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award. With a record of 8-7-8, a new club record for goals against per game (1.08), six shutouts, and 22 starts during the course of the season, Turner helped his team advance to the MLS Cup Playoffs for the second time in a row. Turner finished the year as the second-best saves Percentage and goals-against-average player in Revs history (1.36). He also finished first among the top ten MLS goalkeepers in terms of save percentage and goals against average. Since the start of the 2019 season, his save percentage was the best of any MLS goalkeeper.

In 2021 season
Through 28 starts, a 1.25 goals-against average, a 73.2 save %, and five shutouts in 2021, Turner continued to play well. On November 22, 2021, he was chosen as the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. He earned the distinction of being the first keeper in the annals of the Revolutionary War. Turner was named the 2021 MLS All-Star Game MVP after stopping two penalties against the Liga MX All-Stars on August 25, 2021. He also set a club record with 17 regular season victories, which tied for the most in the league.
The United States national team

Turner started as a goalkeeper for the United States men's national team against Trinidad and Tobago on January 31, 2021, in a friendly match. Turner prevented a goal by blocking Alvin Jones' penalty kick.
Turner started each of the United States' six games during the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He had five clean sheets, one of which came in the championship match's 1-0 victory over Mexico. Turner received the title of "Best Goalkeeper" in the competition for his work.
